Pre-Conference Tour – The Help Tour and Tasting
On May 13, 2010, DreamWorks Studios formally announced that a major motion picture based on Mississippi native Kathryn Stockett’s bestselling novel The Help would be filmed in Greenwood, Mississippi. We became home for several months to cast members such as Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain and many more. We will take a driving tour and see the locations used in the film, where the stars stayed during filming of the movie as well as hot spots for cast and crew sightings. This tour will give you true behind the scenes access!
Some of the things that Hollywood creates aren’t real, but you can bet the food in The Help was. Following the driving tour, we will sample a taste of The Help with a cooking demonstration. Lee Ann Flemming will be doing the cooking demonstration for us at the Historic Elks Lodge in downtown Greenwood. Lee Ann was the food stylist for "The Help". She’s a newspaper and magazine food columnist, and a frequent guest chef on WABG-TV’s Delta Kitchen on Good Morning, Mississippi. She now wears a brand new hat as author of her new cookbook entitled, "RECIPES and REMEMBRANCES". The Elks Lodge was the location used for the Junior League Benefit scene in the movie. Learn what really went into preparing all of the food you see on screen. And if you’re sweet, you’ll get the good chocolate pie!Back to top
